Postdoctoral Travel Grant

Award Overview and Guidelines

The Postdoctoral Program of the Sackler Institute provides a travel award program specifically directed to the postdoctoral community attending or presenting at professional or academic meetings. Up to four $500 travel grants will be awarded to eligible Postdocs each year.  The Postdoctoral Council will determine grant awardees. Notification of award will be sent out from the Postdoctoral Program Office.

Rules:

(1) The applicant must not be able to qualify for travel monies or have been awarded a travel grant from another funding source for the meeting you are requesting this award for. (i.e. if your fellowship provides for conference expenses, you are not eligible for this award). 


(2) A letter of commitment from your PI for your attendance at the meeting is required with this application. This is to ensure that the award will be used. If you are unable to attend the meeting and have been granted the award, please inform the Postdoctoral Program Office as soon as possible so travel funds may be offered to other postdocs who may have applied.

(3) Applicants are eligible for only one travel grant per year, however candidates may apply more than once in an academic year if an application was previously unsuccessful.

(4) The Sackler Institute Postdoctoral Travel Grant is good for only one year from the time of award.

(5) Applicants receive a maximum of $500 upon receipt and processing of NYU School of Medicine Travel Expense Form (to be completed after return from trip). Monies will not be given upfront. If expenses are less than $500 the applicant will receive a check for the lesser amount.

(6) The following criteria will be used to decide awarding of the grant. 


A. Preference given to postdocs who are 
presenting their research.
B. Preference given to postdocs who have not attended prior conferences.

(7) Winners will be announced within two weeks after the designated deadline.

(8) If there are fewer candidates than awards in a given application period or if awardees do not utilize the full amount of the grant the remaining monies will be carried over into the next period.
